Begin with what you need today
Glean brings devotionals, prayer, and a record of your life with God into one place. You do not need to set everything up before beginning. Choose a single thing you would like to do: read Scripture around something on your heart, write a prayer, or save a moment you want to return to.
On iPhone, the main tabs are Today, Prayer, and Devotionals. Use Create to start something new. The website also has a devotional experience; these instructions describe the iPhone app, and some screens and options differ on the web.
What lives where
- Today brings together your current devotional and the prayers you have chosen to return to on that day.
- Prayer is where you keep personal prayers and find the people and shared prayers you are connected with.
- Devotionals is where you browse your devotional library and return to something you have saved.
- Journey brings together God moments, completed devotionals, and prayer milestones. Open Today, find Your Journey, and tap View all. Journey also provides a way into your monthly Memories.
- Settings contains your account, reading and appearance preferences, AI choices, notifications, and help.
You can return to an existing devotional from your library rather than creating another one. Your saved words and reflections are something to revisit at your own pace; there is no need to complete a whole practice in one sitting.
Decide whether to sign in
You can write personal prayers, use local features, and read saved devotionals without an account. A free account adds account-backed features such as encrypted sync and sharing with trusted people. Creating an account does not itself buy a credit pack or an Unlimited plan.
Glean AI is optional. Features such as generating devotionals and monthly Memories use credits or eligible Unlimited access. Ordinary reading, writing personal prayers, and returning to your saved content do not use credits. The devotional creator also offers your own Gemini key and a copy-and-import option. See credits and purchases for the differences.
Keep your work with you
If you begin as a guest, your local work belongs to that device or browser. Before replacing a phone, deleting the app, or clearing browser storage, review your sync and backup options. Signing in and choosing what to sync are separate from sharing something with another person.
If a screen in this guide is missing, check which platform and app version you are using. You can contact support with those details without sending your private devotional or prayer text.
